Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, had his blood pressure measured by Blood Pressure UK to highlight the issue that untreated high blood pressure is the major risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). It is also a risk factor for strokes and heart attacks, kidney disease and vascular dementia.
Stephen McPartland MP said, "Many people with high blood pressure are not aware they have the condition. Having your blood pressure tested is quick and easy. A healthy blood pressure is important to reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks and CVD."

One in three adults in the UK, approximately 16 million people has high blood pressure, yet it is estimated that nearly 8 million are not aware they have the condition.
