2015 has been an incredible year and it was a real honour to be re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Stevenage with an increased majority. I am very humbled by the faith and trust local people have placed in me to represent them and I will always stand up for what I believe is right. I know I do not always agree with the Government, but they did not elect me to represent them, I was elected by you to represent you.

Over the last five years, we have seen significant changes to our area, with over £300 million of Government infrastructure investment I have secured for our local schools, hospitals, housing and jobs. There is more to come over the next five years, including, exciting new improvements on our train services, progress on the satellite radiotherapy unit and converting the A1(M) into a three lane smart motorway between Junctions 6 and 8. I also look forward to continue working with our local NHS, which goes from strength to strength with fantastic staff that help save lives on a daily basis.

Getting results for local people is the most exciting part of being a Member of Parliament, although delivering the major infrastructure projects is amazing, my real satisfaction comes from helping those families with an issue that affects them personally. When we get a result it always makes such a dramatic and instant difference to the family. The economic recovery is also making a huge difference to local families, as unemployment is now at its lowest level for many years in our area. Our schools and college continue to improve thanks to the hard work and dedication of pupils, teachers and parents. This is being recognised and more companies are choosing to invest in Stevenage than ever before.

There is so much we have done, but there is so much more to do and my campaigns - for 3 hours free parking to help regenerate Stevenage town centre and a new Garden City to help resolve housing need locally - mean 2016 will also be an exciting year. We have achieved a lot this year and I am very much looking forward to winning the battles to deliver more success next year.
