More than 100 representatives of local businesses and community groups took part in a digital workshop led by Google's 'Digital Garage' team and hosted by Lloyds Bank.
Stevenage MP, Stephen McPartland, gave an opening address and commented, "It was wonderful to see so many local businesses take part in the digital workshop with Google and Lloyds. There was standing room only and I was delighted to open the event. We are on the cusp of a digital revolution for many businesses, as they work hard to develop consumer and supplier relationships across a multitude of platforms. It is exciting to see Stevenage leading the way once again."
Steve McQueen, business Relationship Manager for Lloyds Bank for the local area, said, "I am delighted with the turnout. To get more than 100 people here is a testament to the strength of the community in Stevenage. Stevenage is the engine room of Hertfordshire in terms of the economy but there is a real community feel to businesses here as well and Lloyds is very committed to engaging with the community through our ambassador scheme.”
Becky Boyd a trainer for Google’s ‘Digital Garage’ tour, said, “It has been a brilliant turnout and everyone seems to have found it useful. Everyone here seems really passionate about their businesses and their community.”
