Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage has laid some of the first bricks at Wedgewood Way – a Metropolitan-led development with Chase New Homes.
Stephen McPartland, MP for Stevenage, said, “I was delighted to visit the Wedgewood Way development and lay some bricks to celebrate this massive investment in affordable housing. I am proud that the Government, through the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), is helping lead the way by investing around £6 million in the development. the quality of the project being delivered by Metropolitan and Chase New Homes is outstanding. My thanks to Tony Carey, CEO of Chase New Homes, and Metropolitan’s Kerry Kyriacou, Executive Director of Development, and Oliver Gawthorne, Head of Land, for being so ambitious.
"I really look forward to being involved as the homes become available and families move in. It is another exciting investment, which shows Stevenage is clearly leading the way as our local economy goes from strength to strength.”
The project will bring more than 240 affordable homes to Stevenage and help hundreds of local families to get onto the housing ladder. It is being developed on the site of the old DuPont factory and is due to be completed by February 2020. It consists of 208 homes for shared ownership, 40 rented homes and 6 homes for private sale.
Oliver Gawthorne, Metropolitan’s Head of Land, said, “It was fantastic to welcome Stephen McPartland MP to the site and for him to lay some bricks as part of the development. At Metropolitan, we are focused on improving the lives of our customers – and helping people to rent affordable homes or get onto the housing ladder are key ways in which we do that.”
