The Rt Hon Stephen McPartland

Shades of Stevenage is a well loved hairdressing salon, that has undergone refurbishment and offers a range of services. Including a couple of special quiet rooms designed to provide autism friendly hairdressing.

Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, said “It was fantastic to visit Shades in the Hyde and learn more about the services they offer. I was really impressed with the autism friendly quiet rooms that allow children to have their hair cut and styled in an environment suitable for them. I know many families, with autistic children that really struggle getting them to the hairdressers. The team are so friendly and offer such an amazing array of services designed to help the local community. I am proud they are here and look forward to seeing more of them.”

Sarah, the manager at Shades, added, “Our Sensory Room has even surprised us at how popular it has become. We have worked closely with Greenside School in understanding the needs of Children & Adults on the spectrum and thank them for all their help in making our Sensory Room a success. The biggest reward we have is seeing the happiness on the faces of everyone that uses the Room.”
