The California Robot Team from Stevenage's Nobel School was pleased to meet Stephen McPartland MP, to tell him all about their experience at the California competition. The students discussed the modification and adaptations carried out to the robot and told Stephen all about their California adventure.
Stephen McPartland MP said, "Delighted to meet Jeeves the Robot and the team who took the USA by storm. The pupils were very excited to tell me the details of their experience and what they had been up to since I presented their awards for winning locally. I am looking forward to the 10th Robot finals in early December."
On the 5th October, the team of six students who won the MBDA sponsored local robot rumble competition, flew off to California to represent the school in an international competition - the Battle in the Canyon at Viewpoint School, Calabasas.
The team eventually finished in 5th position in the heats out of 41 teams and proceeded to the knockouts. An amazing achievement in their first international competition! They also finished in second place overall for 'driving skills' and the 'autonomous' section of the event. A tremendous achievement, which showcased the talent of Stevenage young people on the international stage.
