Stephen McPartland, MP for Stevenage, went behind the scenes at the Novotel Stevenage to see the Big Student Takeover.
For two days the Novotel staff stepped back and allowed the students to takeover the front of house, bar and kitchen for two days. Fifty catering and hospitality students were involved and designed menus for the evening functions prior to the takeover, which were judged by members of the Novotel staff. The Students from North Hertfordshire College were preparing food for a Gala Dinner with over 100 guests when Stephen popped in to see how they were getting on.
Stephen said, "I was impressed by the hard work going on in the kitchen and range of different dishes being prepared. The students showed real dedication and expertise. I am delighted local firms are investing in our young people, and providing the opportunity for real work experience. The Big Student Takeover is another example of Stevenage leading the way."
