The Rt Hon Stephen McPartland

Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, welcomed the latest freeze on Fuel Duty.

Stephen said, "The government has now frozen Fuel Duty for two years.  This is good news for families, businesses and other motorists coping with tight finances. I met with the Chancellor recently and explained how families needed help with the cost of living and urged him to postpone the fuel duty increase. I am delighted he listened and by taking action on fuel pump prices, freezing council tax and cutting income tax for millions of people, we are providing real help to local people with the cost of living.

Stephen added, "Combined with the massive £280 million government infrastructure investment I have secured for our hospital, schools, housing and jobs is providing a major boost for our local economy."
