The Rt Hon Stephen McPartland

Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, spoke at the opening of the Armed Forces Day event in the Stevenage Indoor Market on Saturday, and also met with many of the individuals representing different branches of the armed services.

Stephen said “I was proud to take part in the Armed Forces Day celebrations hosted in the Stevenage Indoor Market and was honoured to be given the opportunity to speak at the opening of the event by the Market traders. It was a fantastic day which celebrated the commitment from our community to the Armed Forces and I enjoyed meeting everyone, from cadets to a Dunkirk veteran who served on the beaches as a nurse.

Chatting to her, war widows and veterans made me proud that I voted with the government to introduce the Military Covenant into law, which means that as we ask our Armed Forces and their families to make the ultimate sacrifice, we will take care of them and their families when they come home."
