National Black Cat day is held every year on the 27 October, recognising the beauty of black cats and to encourage people to adopt a black cat.

Stephen McPartland MP said, "I am always happy to support national Black Cat Day and Cats Protection are an amazing charity. I am proud to have adopted my own black cats from them."

Bianca Kubler, Coordinator for North Herts Branch Cats Protection, commented, "We at Cats Protection believe black is beautiful, these mini panthers are  sleek, beautiful and charismatic bundles of fun, loving and loyal like any other cat. Yet they are often the more difficult to rehome taking 13% more time to find a home than more colourful cats. The fact that 40% of cats surrendered into our care are black or black and white shows that our black friends are often with us for far too long.

"So please take a look at our website www.cats.org.uk/northherts and take home your own mini black panther!"

Cat owners can also get involved by posting photos of their cats on social media using the hashtag #Blackcatday#  on Twitter to shout why their black cat is the best!
