The Bedwell Residents Group raised over £100 for the charity SPANA at a special World Tea Party with Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage.
Stephen McPartland MP, said, “It is great to see so much support from local residents for SPANA’s work, helping working animals in developing countries to receive the veterinary care they urgently need. The generosity in our town is amazing and shows a real community spirit.”
Chris Oak, who is HR & Facilities Manager at SPANA, and Chairman of Bedwell Residents’ Group, said, “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to the World Tea Party and gave their support. The generous donations made will be a great boost for SPANA and will help improve the welfare of many working animals around the world.”
By transporting goods and people, these working donkeys, horses, camels and elephants play a vital role in supporting the livelihoods of millions of the world’s poorest families. However, without SPANA, they often have no access to veterinary care, or their owners have no means to pay for it.
