The new home has also been designed with the local community in mind, and will feature a Best Friends Café which will enable people within the home, as well as the local community to enjoy coffee and cakes with friends. It is being constructed by GB Building Solutions Ltd.
The ceremony was also attended by senior representatives from Hertfordshire County Council and Quantum Care as well as staff and residents from Newhaven care home.
Maria Ball, Chief Executive of Quantum Care said “this is a really exciting project and we are really pleased to be working in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council to provide such a high standard of accommodation for older people in Stevenage”.
Richard Smith, Hertfordshire County Council's Executive Member for Adult Care and Health, said: "This is going to be an excellent development which will provide purpose-built facilities for older people with a variety of care needs. I look forward to the completion of the project so people can enjoy the new facilities."
