Rt Hon Stephen McPartland MP
Working hard for you
in Stevenage, Knebworth, Codicote, Datchworth and Aston

A recent Ofsted Inspection of Marriotts School has recognised the improvements made at the school  and headteacher Beth Honnor invited Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, to see the impact of the changes made in the school first hand and hear about their future plans.

Stephen McPartland MP said, "I am passionate about education and want to ensure every child has the opportunity to change their life chances by getting a good education.   I pushed hard for the £80 million investment from this Government to build new Marriotts Lonsdale schools and was very proud to be part of the opening ceremonies.

"I was impressed by the calm purposeful atmosphere around the school and particularly by the focused learning in classrooms.  I am pleased to see the continuing transformation of Marriotts school and have seen many examples of staff and students putting into practice the school's ethos. The work undertaken in the school on a day to day basis will have a massive impact on pupils and is key to their success in life."

Beth Honnor, Headteacher of Marriotts School, commented, “It is great for Stephen to see all the changes we have made: our new Student Charter and classroom routines which led to an Ofsted rating of Good for behaviour, the high quality teaching and marking of our talented and experienced new staff team and our increasing Year 7 numbers, which have seen our intake jump from 100 to 240.

"We are incredibly grateful for the hard work and support of our students, staff and community and are now looking forward to Stephen’s continued close involvement with our school."

The team at Marriotts school want all students to set goals and believe in themselves, to work hard to achieve these dreams and to treat each other as they wish to be treated, summarised in the new school ethos ’Aim High, Work Hard, Be kind'.

Marriotts school has a number of partnerships in place, including the Student Athletes scheme which is part of Marriotts’ formal partnership with Stevenage FC which sees their leading participants transfer to Marriotts for additional coaching linked to academic tracking.
