A group of teenagers from Stevenage National Citizen Service programme have used their summer holiday to create a special nature area for the young pupils at Trotts Hill Primary School in Stevenage.

Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, said, "I am always pleased to visit the Stevenage National Citizen Service project, which is a fantastic programme. These young people have sacrificed their own time to give back to the local community, and I really appreciate it.

"The project I saw today is brilliant – the young people are so enthusiastic about helping their community and it has been a pleasure to talk to them about their time on the NCS project and their plans for the future.

"The nature area looks fantastic and I know the pupils and teachers at Trotts Hill Primary School will enjoy it for years to come."

As well as clearing and constructing the new green space, the teenagers raised an impressive £600 to fund the project by bag-packing at the local ASDA store.

The National Citizen Service is an action-packed national youth programme available to every 16 and 17 year old.
