The Twin Towns 1000 cycle ride is starting to gain fantastic support following its official launch by Stevenage MP, Stephen McPartland, at the Lister Hospital. The team aim to fundraise £100,000 to enhance the hospital’s services through the East and North Herts Hospitals Charity.
Stephen McPartland MP wished the cyclists well with their training and fundraising efforts, and said, "I encourage local businesses along with the local community, most of whom have accessed the services of the Lister Hospital at some point in their life, to get involved and lend their support to this fantastic fundraising initiative.
"This is a brilliant team effort to make a real difference in enhancing our local hospital services and I wish the cyclists every success with their venture."
The cycle ride is named ‘Twin Towns 1000’ as the route is over 1,000 kms and the team will be cycling from Harwich in the UK to the towns of Ingelheim in Germany and Autun in France, both towns twinned with Stevenage.
