Stevenage MP, Stephen McPartland visited Lloydspharmacy at The Poplars, Stevenage to hear more about their latest initiative, Diabetes Plus which is geared towards prevention and management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Stephen commented, "We know that thousands of people locally and millions of people in the UK are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes within the next ten years. This makes screening tests increasingly important in helping those most at risk to minimise their chances of developing type 2 diabetes.
"I was surprised that the test is free of charge, easily available and incredibly quick. I am pleased to say I was given the all clear, but it was reassuring and incredibly straight forward."
Alison Freemantle, Lloydspharmacy's Diabetes Expert commented, "We have been working in the area of diabetes for 10 years now and as well as raising awareness and identifying those most at risk, we want to support people who have been diagnosed with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes to manage their condition and undertake important checks, such as foot examinations.
"We are delighted that Stephen visited us to hear about our services and more widely, the role that pharmacy can play in helping people look after their health."
