Local MP Stephen McPartland commented on the go ahead for Stevenage's Lister hospital new £19.3million emergency department, "This is fantastic news and I am delighted that workmen will be on the ground in a matter of weeks. We are running at full steam to deliver massive improvements to our local hospital, which will improve both the patient and staff experience of our local NHS. This is the first of another eleven projects the government is funding to transform our hospital into one of the most advanced and modern facilities in the UK."
Stephen continued, "We are lucky that the Lister is already a centre of clinical excellence and I am proud of the staff who improve and often save our lives on a day to day basis. This is a great day for Stevenage and we have many more to come as I have secured over £250million of government infrastructure investment in our local hospital, schools, housing and jobs."
The latest project forms part of the £75million Phase 4 redevelopment of the Lister hospital in Stevenage. The new emergency facility will have specialist emergency and urgent care services for both adults and children, improved radiology services including a new CT scanner and an orthopaedic and fracture clinic within the outpatients department with its own dedicated radiology support.
