Thank you for doing all that you can to stay home, protect the NHS and save lives. I know it is tough, but the more we follow the rules now, the quicker we will be through this together. Working from home has been challenging for many families, but it shows there is still lots going on behind the scenes.
Personally, I am working hard in both my role as the Member of Parliament for Stevenage and a Select Committee Chairman.
At a local level, my team and I are working from our homes and helping hundreds of constituents every day. We are often their first port of call when they have not been able to get the help and support they hoped from local authorities, public sector organisations, employers or companies they are in dispute with. We are getting back to everyone as quickly as possible, signposting and explaining the relevant guidance or taking the matter up directly with Ministers or the organisations they feel have let them down.
At a national level, I am in daily contact with Ministers and feeding in the realities of how the schemes we design to support people are working on the ground. Local feedback from constituents, charities and businesses features regularly in my discussions with various Ministers on a daily basis. We all have to work together to help the Government ensure the response is right and I am proud of how well our community has come together. The scale of what has been achieved - in such a short space of time is nothing short of incredible, but it is difficult to capture every single circumstance and that is why that feedback is so valuable.
I am working with my colleagues to help us come through this national crisis as safely as possible and in close contact with the chief executives of local stakeholders, especially the NHS, to ensure they have the resources they need.
