Stevenage MP Stephen McPartland was invited join the harvest in action at one of the farms in the local area, and to see how arable farms help provide the raw ingredients for the UK food and drinks industry, as well as providing a vital environmental role.

Stephen McPartland MP said, "It was fantastic to be able to join the team at W J Spicer & Sons and see the harvest in action.  Farmers are extremely committed when it comes to delivering not only quality food and raw ingredients, but also investing time, money and effort in managing the countryside and environment in and around their farms."

"Inviting Mr McPartland out on the family farm enabled us to discuss matters such as the importance of the arable farming sector, our reliance on haulage firms and logistics at this time of year, and how our business is getting ‘Brexit’ ready", said Rosemary Pateman, of W J Spicer & Sons, who hosted Stephen.
