Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, presented a £76,049 cheque to Codicote FC to help fund their stadium upgrade. The project was made possible thanks to a grant from the Premier League through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the largest funders of non-league football in the country.
Stephen McPartland MP said, “I was delighted to present this cheque to Codicote FC, especially as I am proud to be Patron of the Club. The upgraded facilities will give the club a fantastic base to work from for the future. It is great to see this investment into the area and gives the club their home back. Thanks must go the Premier League for their support.
The grant will enable the club to return to its original home in the village of Codicote itself. In order to complete this move, several improvements were required to meet the requirements of the FA National Ground Grading Criteria. The funding will go towards building two 50-seater stands, hardstanding area at the edge of the pitch, dugouts and installation of floodlights.
