The Member of Parliament for Stevenage, Stephen McPartland sponsored the British Lung Foundation’s lung health awareness exhibition at the Houses of Parliament. He launched the 'Listen To Your Lungs' campaign to raise awareness that feeling out of breath doing everyday tasks could be a sign of lung disease.
Stephen McPartland MP is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Respiratory Health and said, “Completing the BLF’s online ‘breath test’ at www.blf.org.uk/breathtest is a really easy way of checking your lung health. I would encourage everyone to try it.
“Most people underestimate the proportion of deaths in the UK caused by lung disease - it kills someone every 5 minutes. If you are even slightly worried a loved one has been feeling increasingly short of breath – please make sure they take the test. It can help provide peace of mind.”
Steven Wibberley, Chief Operating Officer for British Lung Foundation, said, “We are extremely grateful to Stephen for his generosity and support, encouraging politicians and their constituents to ‘Listen to their lungs’ if they feel breathless. Together we can ensure that those people who are suffering with an undiagnosed lung condition seek help and get the support they need. With treatment, people can live longer, healthier lives.”
