Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, congratulated the team from Nobel school on winning the Robot Rumble sponsored by MBDA. The competition involves school students designing and building their own robots with support from an MBDA Apprentice acting as Mentor. They then compete in a variety of individual events including obstacle courses and robot dexterity tests, with several stages of knock out before the finals.
Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, said, "I love this event and have been involved with it long before I was a Member of Parliament. It is an amazing experience for both the students and the apprentices from MBDA who put so much into organising the event. The finals are very exciting and I make sure I can attend every year to present the awards. I was delighted a Stevenage School won this year after being so close for many years."
The Robot Rumble competition is designed to help pupils gain skills in engineering and technology and learn more about what a career in the area might involve. It also includes an opportunity for many of the students taking part to spend some time at MBDA Stevenage.
