Year 5 representatives from the Pupil Parliament at Round Diamond School were excited to be visited by Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, after being inspired during their work within the Stevenage Schools' Parliament.
Stephen McPartland MP said, "It is always a great pleasure to meet the school councillors and listen to their questions. It is brilliant how engaged they are and often ask some of the toughest questions. Outstanding pupils from an outstanding school, supported by outstanding staff and parents."
The visit was part of the children's learning about the role of parliament and politicians and included an opportunity to quiz Stephen. After the session, Billy, Year 5, commented "It was eye-opening to find out how much work goes into being an MP and even though we presented him with a number of challenging questions, he answered them honestly and explained his reasons.".
