“Speak up and speak out” was the message coming from Stephen McPartland MP as he opened the school parliament at The John Henry Newman School for this academic year.

Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, said, “It was a privilege to be invited to open John Henry Newman’s school parliament. The staff and pupils are placing a huge amount of energy into the project, which was reflected in the range of questions. An amazing collaboration that is helping transform how the school operates on a day to day basis.”

Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, addressed 140 school MPs ahead of their first session to start the term's work. He spoke about his commitment to representing the people of Stevenage at Westminster, while meeting people and being able to make a difference to their life chances are some of the best things he can do as a Member of Parliament.

For the JHN School's new MPs, big commitment is the reality of the life: if they want to make a difference for the pupils and students they represent they have to be prepared to get involved and pour everything into the job.
