The Carping4Charity team have been at it again! With the weather beating down on us all, Local carpers where back on Fairlands Valley lake for another 24 hour fundraising fishing match, this year raising vital funds for the Essex & Herts Air Amublance Service.

Stephen McPartland MP said, "It is always great fun and although I am not a fisherman myself, it is amazing how much effort goes into this event. It shows the real community spirit at the heart of our town."

Mark Clifford-Smith, Chairman of Stevenage Carping 4 Charity, said, "We managed to raise a big total of £1,120. One of our young fishermen, Mark Wells, who used up his time and sacrificed a school trip just to help out, raised £90 from school - well done Mark we are very proud of you! We would also like to thank Stephen McPartland MP for supporting us on our yearly match. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and did not get too sunburnt."

Carping4Charity had support from a number of donors: £300 from Angling Direct, £200 in vouchers from Rigmarole and xcell baits for two session packs. Thanks also to Mick Lilse for donating the second prize bag of goodies. An auction for a French fishing trip for two people raised £450, donated by Les Etang De Chantereine.
