Stephen McPartland MP marked Holocaust Memorial Day by signing the Holocaust Educational Trust's Book of Commitment in the Houses of Parliament. It honours the victims and survivors on the Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp.

Stephen McPartland MP said, “Holocaust Memorial Day is an important opportunity for people to reflect on the tragic events of the Holocaust. It reminds us all how intolerance and hate in communities can lead to the destruction of so many lives. We must never let the politics of hate lead to such tragic events ever again. I would encourage local people to take a moment and reflect to show their support today.”

Karen Pollock MBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said, “The Holocaust did not start in the gas chambers but with hate filled words. Our mission is to educate young people from every background about the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance. We are very grateful to Stephen McPartland MP for signing the Book of Commitment, signalling a continued commitment to remembering the victims of the Holocaust as well as challenging antisemitism, prejudice and bigotry in all its forms.”

Holocaust Memorial Day is on 27th January and marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history.
