Rt Hon Stephen McPartland MP
Working hard for you
in Stevenage, Knebworth, Codicote, Datchworth and Aston

I have been shocked at suggestions I do not believe animals are sentient and do not feel pain. I love animals and am proud to have adopted two kittens from North Herts Cats Protection this summer - Sophie and Sasha.

The vote last week was whether or not we should transfer EU Regulations directly into UK law. In fact, our animal welfare standards are much higher than the EU and we often lead the way in Europe on improving them.

The Government has made major policy announcements recently, such as introducing CCTV in all slaughterhouses, ending the ivory trade, higher sentences for animal cruelty and I will ensure we deliver the highest animal welfare standards as we leave the EU.
