A new support group for parents and carers of autistic children, SPACE Stevenage, was launched with the help of local Member of Parliament, Stephen McPartland.
Stephen McPartland MP said, "There was an amazing turnout with standing room only. I am delighted to welcome SPACE to Stevenage as this support group will really help make a difference to local families. We are very lucky to have TRACKS autism charity supporting local families, and this will be a huge boost. I would also like to thank the Stevenage Community Trust for donating the books to kickstart the lending library."
SPACE has been running support groups within Hertfordshire for 10 years, and the new group in Stevenage will be led by Lisa McGivern, who commented, "SPACE is looking forward to working together with parents and carers and professionals in the town. We are also very grateful for all the support from the Stevenage community to date."
The Stevenage SPACE group will meet at the St Nicholas and Martins Wood Children's Centre at The Oval, Vardon Road, on the second Monday of each month in term time.
