A group of apprentices based at GSK in Stevenage and Ware invited Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, to hear about the team's entry for the Brathay Apprentice Challenge, the search for the apprentice team of the year supported by the National Apprenticeship Service.
Stephen McPartland MP said of the visit, “'It was a rewarding experience on both sides. The apprentices at GSK were able to ask valuable questions about how far the different schemes have come since 2010 and the future of apprenticeships in the constituency, as well as seek ideas for their community project."
As part of the challenge, the team are aiming to raise awareness of apprenticeships, working with local schools, employers and the media to do so. The team are also taking on a community project and will be working with Herts Young Carers, which offers young carers a time to relax and socialise, to run some fun sessions and a group day out.
