Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, was delighted that thousands of local people voted for Home-Start Stevenage and they have been awarded £3,000 from the 2014 Lloyds Bank Community Fund.
Stephen McPartland MP said, "It is fantastic to see the support for Home-Start Stevenage. There are many agencies providing help in specific areas, but sometimes families just need a friendly face from Home-Start who can help them navigate their way through the system.
Local organisations often struggle when a family does not fit in their particular area of responsibility, and I spend a lot of my time helping those families make sense of the bureaucracy they face. Home-Start Stevenage does a fantastic job helping such families too and this grant money will allow them to continue their work."
Stevenage Home-Start is based in Bedwell Park and the staff and volunteers make many visits to families at home, supporting parents and helping families through difficult times.
