Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, highlighted the importance of volunteering using the opportunity of Trustees' Week.
Stephen McPartland MP said, "There are over 130 voluntary organisations in Stevenage and all rely on the dedication, energy and commitment of their trustees to be able to continue their work and help change local people's lives. I welcome Trustees' Week as a way of highlighting the work of the hundreds of trustees involved and would like to add my personal thanks to them.
"Trustees’ Week is a time to thank trustees who are the people ultimately in charge of a charity and help the charity achieve its aims. There are 137 voluntary organisations in Stevenage that all rely on the dedication, energy and commitment of around 800 trustees in order to support their beneficiaries."
Sir Stuart Etherington, chief executive of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, said, “Trustees’ Week is a great opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate trustees and the valuable contribution they make to our society. They play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about the charity's work.
