Stevenage Poppy Appeal need a little more help in this important 100th year commemoration of World War I. The volunteers are the backbone of the Poppy Appeal and can be seen at locations all over the area accepting donations in their trademark red tins for a Poppy.
Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, said, "Last year during the Poppy Appeal over £93,000 was raised in Stevenage, which is a staggering amount. The generosity of local people is amazing and on this important 100th commemoration year of World War I the Stevenage Poppy Appeal organisers would like to raise £100,000. This can be achieved, but only if they have more volunteer collectors who are willing to join the town's Poppy Appeal team. You only have to give a few hours of your time and it will make a huge difference to many of our veterans families."
